Peru copter search stymied by bad weather

HUALLA-HUALLA, Peru (AP) - Poor weather continues to impede the search for a helicopter that went missing in Peru's highlands with eight South Koreans and three Europeans aboard.

Air Force Col. Juan Rios tells The Associated Press that clouds, winds, rain and hail made it impossible for a military chopper to get closer than two miles from where the Sikorsky S-58ET chopper is believed located.

About 50 police officers searched Friday for the 14 people who were on the missing aircraft, which was headed to Cuzco on Wednesday when it went missing.

The Korean Embassy in Lima said the eight Koreans aboard had been exploring a potential hydroelectric project near Mazuco, where the flight operated by Cuzco-based Helicusco had originated.

Police said the other foreigners aboard were a Dutchman, a Czech and a Swede.
